Baptism Sunday – Associate Pastor Erin Spavin
Baptism Sunday
The parable of the Prodigal Son illustrates a son’s reckless departure and eventual return, where he seeks forgiveness but expects punishment. Instead, the father joyfully welcomes him back with open arms, restoring his status and celebrating his return. This story reflects God’s unconditional love and grace—how He eagerly welcomes back those who have strayed, offering reconciliation and restoration. It reveals that we were made for relationship with God, and only He can satisfy our deepest longings. The father’s compassionate response mirrors God’s heart: not condemnation, but connection. This is the gospel—the good news that, no matter how far we wander, God runs to meet us, offering love, acceptance, and a homecoming.
